LOTUS FLOWER WHITE CRACKLE STICK INCENSE HOLDER | RAKU POTTERY INCENSE HOLDER

This is a Lotus Flower design crackle glaze Raku Pottery style dish that is 4.5 inch diameter. Each burner is handcrafted and fired in an outdoor kiln and left to smolder in a pit with wood shavings. Not every piece survives their trial by fire. The ones that do cultivate strength and beauty. The photos are examples only. The hole size is for traditional thin style thin incense sticks. It comes with direction to drill the piece if you need a larger hole. Each piece is signed and comes in a nice gift box.

PLEASE NOTE: The hole on these incense holders is small to hold thin incense sticks as the type pictured. The holder comes with drill instructions if you would like to use thicker incense sticks. I am happy to pre-drill the hole larger before we send it out if you would like. PLEASE LET ME KNOW IN THE COMMENTS when checking out if you would like a larger hole drilled.

Raku generally refers to a type of low-firing process that was inspired by traditional Japanese raku firing. Western-style raku usually involves removing pottery from the kiln while at bright red heat and placing it into containers with combustible materials. Once the materials ignite, the containers are closed. This produces an intense reduction atmosphere which affects the colors in glazes and clay bodies. The drastic thermal shock also produces cracking—known as crackling since it is deliberate. The original Japanese style of raku is an outgrowth from Buddhist influences in life
